Candice and Jason Wedding iPhone Photos

3 years ago today these beautiful people tied the knot. Stacey and I were fortunate enough to have the privilege of photographing their wedding. While we lugged along our big ole professional cameras, I was really into the Hipstamatic App on my iPhone at the time. More specifically this black and white filter that came with it. Jason and Candice were cool enough and open enough to allow me to shoot with my iPhone after I had gotten the shot with my DSLR. Imagine a professional wedding photographer running around snapping photos on his phone, I'm sure it was quiet the site to see. Anyway - a lot of the photos came out great and I love that old timey film look that came out of it. Happy 3 year anniversary Jason and Candice! F44D015C-30A2-4838-BE06-3730CDDA86B3

Alexa's Headshots

Check out my new friend Alexa's headshots! This girl was great. We went into a new studio with an awesome Make Up Artist and took so many shots it was hard to narrow them down for final selections. Alexa is a budding new actress ready to make it big in H-Town so keep an eye out for her.

We worked at NoHo Photo Studios (http://www.nohostudiorentals.com/) and Miss Kristen rocked the make up (https://about.me/kristestouchoftrash).

What Camera Should I Buy? Version 2!

In July 2012 I posted our most popular blog post yet, "What Camera Should I Buy" and seeing as that was almost 3 years ago and the photography game has changed a little bit - I figured it's time to update that post. Like I say all the time; I am partial to Canon cameras. While they don't sponsor me (YET!) this is the brand I've used since I began, it's the brand my mother used, and it's the brand I'll probably always use. I love the functionality of the menus, the color of images Canon's produces, and the quality of the lenses that are sold. Nikon also produces some amazing cameras and lenses which get JUST AS GREAT as a final product as Canon. The brands I would stay away from are brands that produce other electronic equipment. Stick with camera companies who specialize only in making cameras.

In retrospect it all boils down to what you will be doing with your camera. Are you planning on only taking pictures on birthdays, soccer games and vacations? Do you see beautiful things out and about and your iPhone just isn't cutting it quality wise? Or do you want to become a professional photographer and are looking to invest in some serious gear. Either way - sit back, relax, for Version 2 of the most popular question professional photographers get.

The Dabbler:

You've got cute kids, you do fun things and you want something a little bit better than the camera on your smart phone. We'll call you "The Dabbler". What camera should you get? While it wouldn't hurt to buy a DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) Camera, that's bulky and cumbersome. It'd be nice to have something yo can throw in a diaper bag or backpack and just throw in auto mode and get great pictures. My professional advice would be to go with any Canon Powershot that fits within your price range.

I would personally go with the Canon Powershow S120. This baby is rockin' 12.1 Megapixels, a super fast 1.8 f/stop lens, full 1080 HD Movie mode and can go up to 12800 ISO. No idea what all that means? Check out our blog post on the Trinity of Camera Settings. This little guy will only cost you $449.99 via the Canon Website.

Too much? Check out the PowerShot SX170 ISIt's 16 Megapixels, 28 mm wide, 1600 ISO and shoots in HD. It's not as great as the S120 but it's not always about the camera! Plus it's only $179!
